Did you know that the U.S. state of Wisconsin is home to a whopping 15,000 lakes—including two of the world's largest lakes as borders?! 🤯 Surprisingly, despite the nearby natural water sources, water supply has been a challenge in Wisconsin. That’s why Waukesha Water Utility (City of Waukesha) turned to us when faced with steadily declining groundwater supply and naturally occurring carcinogenic radium contamination to find an alternative water supply for the 70,000 people that rely on their service. #OurJacobs has helped prepare the first-ever water diversion with return flow application under the Great Lakes St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact, overseeing the permit approvals, transition from groundwater to Lake Michigan water, and design of treatment improvements and monitoring for returning treated wastewater to the Lake Michigan tributary. “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” - Dr Martin Luther King Jr. These are some of the words of wisdom that #OurJacobs Senior Vice President Katus Watson, PE, DBIA left the students with at the recent naming of the new Kaizen Collab at Florida A&M University School of Architecture + Engineering Technology (FAMU SAET).
